Default Baby name help: Can we call our child this?

    Hi all,

With the birth of our baby fast approaching we were starting to stress about the fact we had not found a baby name we could agree on. We finally found a name we both love but are not sure if when combined with our surname it is inappropriate. We don't want our child to be teased or people to think "what were they thinking!"

I would really appreciate any comments (not so much on the christian name, but the name as a whole). Is it too much of a joke? Should we veto it? We have had mixed reactions from friends and family so far. Honest opinions are very welcome. We are so unsure.

    The name is: MILES WALKER

Hmm if it's like 'walking miles' I think it really isn't really a big deal... I knew a mike hunt, that was pretty bad I'd say!!

I am guessing you are worried about your child copping jokes about walking a long way?!

I think he probably will (unfortunately) but having said that I like it.

I do think you would get a few "What were you thinking" comments or looks, but in the grand scheme of things it isn't bad at all.

It would probably be emphasised if the child was adverse to walking, but they would likely get that regardless of their given name. Or if the child was physically disabled and unable to walk, then he would probably get a few awkward stares as people tried not to laugh. But in both cases, I think the given name would make little difference, and it would simply be the surname they were focussing on.

I actually really liked it. Yep I get the possible joke there but I don't think too many kids will get it too quickly especially when he is young.
