    Default Mum moving to Bungendore

Hi, this is my first post on here so lets see how I go!! I am just wanting to hear from other Mums who have lived or are living in Bungendore. We are relocating to the Canberra area at Easter and rather like the idea of a slightly more rural move to Bungendore. My only concern is that I would struggle to meet other mums and I do like to be quite social! I have 2 boys, 3 and 5 and my husband is working in Mitchell. He is not bothered by a drive into work each day as we figure he could be doing a 30 min drive across Canberra anyway!
Please let me know any experiences you have in this area or why Canberra is so fantastic that I shouldn't be looking to move anywhere else!!
We are moving from Newcastle and have also lived in Port Macqurie and Brisbane all of which we have loved.
    Thanks in advance

I can't really answer your questions, but just wanted to say Bungendore is such a gorgeous spot of the world. You'll love it there.

    Hi,

Canberra has lots of great places to take little ones. Gold Creek is very close to Mitchell, and has Cockington Green which is a collection of miniature houses and buildings, a walk in bird aviary, dinosaur museum and reptile centre. There are also lots of kids shops and a cafe with play equipment.

There are lots of great parks in Canberra, including Weston park which has play equipment and a miniature train (Wednesday-Sunday), Black Mountain Peninsula which has three play areas and John Knight Memorial Park, which is great.

There are also lots of indoor playcentres for the cold/wet days, and the museum is a great place to keep little ones entertained for a couple of hours. Questacon is lots of fun for little people, and of course the National Zoo and Aquarium. The Botanic Gardens is a lovely spot to have a picnic and explore.

Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is a lovely spot with lots of walking trails and native animals, picnic/BBQ areas and a fantastic playground. Areas like the Cotter are fun for picnics and paddling in the water, and there are many spots around with play areas.

There are plenty of playgroups, storytimes at local libraries, Paint and Play sessions and other activities where you can meet other parents. I'm sure you'll find loads of things to keep you all occupied.

    Good luck with the move!
Relationships are like garage sales. From a distance they look interesting, but up close it's just a bunch of crap you don't need.

I have a friend who lives on Bungendore and she attends a mother's group there.

Bungendore is a cute little village with a vibrant community. I work with a woman who lives there and every weekend there seems to be something cool that she does. She is older with grown children.

Both these women moved to Bungendore in the last few years from interstate and have settled in easily there.

If your DP will be working in Mitchell and you are not that keen on actually living in ACT have you consisted Murrenbatemen or Hall villages?
