I also like the name Lucius (Lu-see-us) or looch-us for a boy. It's a little too close to lucifer for us.
I have a similar boy's name... I love Lucian (character in Underworld), but worry about pronunciation & teasing (lucy!). Also, my last name starts with L, & has a similar sound, so it would be a bit weird.

We call my cousin Lucas, Lucy! No name is safe from becoming a girls name if someone is determined! I think Lucian is a cool name

I love the name Wilhelmina, so many ways it can be shortened and gorgeous as it is. Both dp and I have W surnames though, which would be just too much matchy matchy. It screams of marvel comic character!!

I'm doing the hard sell on Beatrice or Esme right now. Dp thinks they're too old fashioned, but I can tell he's reconsidering after I explained how dated so many of the main****** names will be in 10yrs time. Bit like Jason and Kylie from the 80s. Besides, the boys name we've picked is extremely old fashioned.

can't comment on the surname part
but our lu was supposed to be lucy (as a boy :P ) but was born, and has always been a lu/lou.
nicknames grow to encompass the child imo. don't discount a name because of the nickname the child *could* end up with.

i've had to push really hard to get dd2's nickname to be what it is. and she still gets referred to by a whole bunch of unrelated to her name nicknames most of the time

Aria is a beautiful name. We have it picked but was wondering how common it is now. Does anyone know?
