I'm coming to this thread a bit late but I LOVE the name Etienne for a boy, it's French. I would never use it though...

Someone mentioned Evangeline which is my dd name, we love it but people do seem to struggle with it unfortunately. People have asked us if we made it up! Idiots...

We are waiting until she is a bit older (just turned 2) and can pick her own nickname but most of our friends and family call her Evie, ****es my husband off no end!

I didn't think about how hard it would be for her to pronounce her own name, at the moment she insists on calling herself "bubby" and won't even attempt to say it.

    Great thread everyone, loved reading

I love Zigane for a girl (pronounced zig-AH-nee). Added bonus: I love the nickname Ziggy for it. It means gypsy in several European languages. I'd loved this name for years and really wanted to name one of my daughters that. However, I found out a year or so ago that it's considered a derogatory term by the Roma (just as the word 'gypsy' is also considered derogatory). So it's not so much that I didn't have the balls to name DD Zigane, it was that I didn't have the cultural insensitivity.

I wish it weren't a derogatory term because it's such a pretty name.

Well, I have rhe guts, but my DP has exercised his power of veto

    Boys:
Ephraim (pronounced Eff-rem), Remy for short
    Lyric
    Lennox
    Rafferty
    Tatum

    Girls:
Cassidy (love it but really don't want it shortened to Cassie & that's inevitable in Australia)
    Aurora
    Ninihi (pronounced Nin-uh-he)

    I vetoed his suggestions of:
    Porter for a boy
& Cedar for either boy or girl

I came across a name at work yesterday that I think is quite a nice name but wouldn't use for obvious reasons.... Elton :-)

Stormy. It's the name of the daughter of Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) ... I think it's cute, but there's no way I'd ever actually use it!
There's also a song he wrote about her, love the lyrics dedicated to her.
