I love the name Xanthe for a little girl. Not too out there but not very common. DP thinks its a non name, that I just made it up!!! He really has no idea!

I'm thinking Xanthe is not an uncommon name any more. There always seems to be one Xanthe around somewhere.

When DD1 was in year 6, there was a Xanthe in year 7.
The following year, when Xanthe moved on to High School, another Xanthe came into prep.
The year after that when we changed schools, there was a Xanthe is year 3 at the new school.
This sort of thing happened a few more times.

It just seems, whereever I go, there is always at least one Xanthe.

I too love Xanthe and want it for our next child if a girl. Dd is Amity and while we thought it was quite uncommon i have since found it everehere. Lol ds is so unusual you will NEVER meet another (and no it's not made up) so we thought the same with future children which has proven incredibly difficult.

    For boys:
Anakin - Loooooove it, but obviously its a Star Wars name and the kid would never get a break from teasing.
Drazic - Heartbreak High days. Such a bogan name but I love it.

    For girls:
Eponine - A name from Les Misérables. Soo pretty.
Dizzy - Starship Troopers. Like it for something different but really....imagine calling your kid Dizzy.

Have a couple more but my mind has gone blank.

I tried to convince DH to let me name Babe #4 Drazic. He said no. Not only for the Heartbreak High reference, but mostly because it was the characters surname, and he doesn't "do" surnames as first names (Drazic's first name in HBH was Bogdan)

    i know several ayla's

the first named after the clan of the cave bear series, and the second named after the first

its a gorgeous name, and while it gets 'ayyyy-lah' rather than 'eye-la' a lot, its still gorgeous, and relatively known.
