    How was it a fail?

Did you use sushi rice and sushi seasoning? Cooked absorption method and then fanned to cool it while you mix in the seasoning/vinegar?

Don't put too much rice/filling in. Just a thin layer of rice and a small amount of filling.

Filling ideas - avocado, cucumber and bean curd.
    Cooked tuna/chicken and Japanese mayo.
Japanese omelette - eggs sweetened with mirin and sugar.
    Lettuce and chicken
    Smoked salmon
    Teriyaki chicken.

You can buy a little kit with instructions, seasoning, wasabi, nori and a rolling mat at the supermarket that will help you get started.

There are loads of videos on youtube to show you how to roll them.

Once you get the hang of it you can experiment.
