Default Not starting TTC until the end of 2012

I know it is a looooong way off but my DP and I are thinking we will start TTC number 1 at the end of the year. I've been stalking BH for a while and this is my first post! I was hoping there might be a few other BH "stalkers" out there who might want to have somewhere to post while waiting to TTC. I'd love to hear some other peoples plans and what you're doing in the waiting time.
Also if there's anyone out there who's planning on TTC any time this year I'd love to hear how the start of your journey goes. I know there are forums for people starting TTC mid-year but I didn't want to post there since I'm going to be waiting a bit longer!

A bit about me.. I'm from Melbourne, live with my partner and a very cute 3 year old blue heeler. Whilst waiting to TTC we're going to work on saving some money... but mostly we're just excited about starting a family!

    Lovely to meet everyone!

Hi Blackash! Nice to hear your story. There is a "Waiting till 2012 to TTC" thread going with ladies with various estimated TTC start dates too but can't hurt to have another thread on waiting I don't think - gives us all something to do!

I'm planning on starting TTC in May. DH had mentioned starting in Dec this year but I have decided I just want to start as soon as possible given my age and the fact that we may want to add another child at some point later to our family. We are waiting till May though to try and avoid Oct-Dec due dates. I'm hoping it will be a smooth journey but you never know these days. We live in Perth.

In the waiting time we are going to save some money for when I am off, have septic tanks removed out the back of our house and do a few other things to keep our old post war home going for a few more years. I am also trying to do yoga and other exercise to make sure I am fit for pg and birth and just doing research on all things baby and conception.

Nice to meet you, and thanks for starting the thread.

Hi ladies! I'm new here too. We're looking at Octoberish TTC. I have one bub already but I had a complicated pregnancy and birth so we're waiting until he is 18 months to go again so I can get some pre-conception counseling in the hope of avoiding, or being better prepared for, complications next time. It seems like forever away! I'm glad I have a few people to keep me company while I wait though!

    Hello Blackash!

Good idea to have a post for the end of the 2012 year

We are planning to start TTC in October, during our honeymoon

I am from Melbourne too, turning 31 in May (DH will be 30 then).

We are quite busy organizing the wedding, so that is good to make the waiting go quicker. Also we are saving money, and hopefully we can buy a house this year. I would really like to have our own place before starting our family.

Also I am eating healthy and trying to up the exercise. It would be great if I can shift 3-5kg before the end of the year. I am in a healthy weight range, but it would not hurt to carry a little less

    Speak soon!

I'm also trying to eat better (not that I ate terribly before, but avoiding caffeine, alcohol and too much refined sugars), and I joined a gym

My partner and I will be doing IUI so we have to get a referral to the fertility clinic so we can start the pre-conception counselling and I can have any necessary tests done.

I've been charting my cycle, and had a blood test for a bunch of stuff so I'm going to the docs tomorrow to get the results and then to get my referral. I'm so excited!!! In reality, it's only 6 months away now!

It's so lovely to come home from work to these nice replies. Hi everyone!

I'm in the same boat as a few people here. Looking to get healthier this year. I don't have to lose any weight but I'm cutting out caffeine and reducing alcohol etc. Definitely should try and get a bit fitter as well. I'll probably head to my Dr later this year to check my vaccinations/vitamins etc.

HOMS I'm a bit the same as you.. I'd be happy to start TTC sooner but my DP wants to wait until the end of the year so I guess I'm biding my time. Can't really do it without him!

NAT11 I'm sorry you had a tough time with your 1st pregnancy. Hopefully things will go smoother the second time around. I think a lot can be said for knowing what to expect.. I have absolutely NO idea what to expect from pregnancy and it freaks me out a bit!

LILI congrats on your upcoming wedding! Definitely nice to have something to focus on this year. Nothing like that on the cards for us so I guess we'll just keep plodding on and saving money and waiting for the time to be right! Can you ever really be prepared to have a baby??!!

RAINBOW ROAD sorry I'm very new to this but what it IUI?? 6 months actually sounds awesome! That will absolutely fly by! I'm looking forward to hearing people's stories as they start TTC. So exciting!

10 months to go for me and counting!

Rainbow road, how exciting about starting your journey with IUI! I have a friend going through it right now and it's a long road but such a worthwhile one when you see the outcome!

Lili, also exciting to hear about your upcoming wedding. I remember my wedding day with such fondness and to TTC straight after is so very romantic! We wanted to do that too but DHs work got in the way and we had to wait a little while.

Blackash, you're right about knowing what to expect! I feel much more confident (however terrified at the same time) about this next pregnancy. I'm just hoping for the best really. I have a great med team this time but I'm hopefully not going to need any of them apart from my Ob and doula. If I never see another endo it will be too soon!

HOMS, looks like you're first on the list! May is going to be here before you know it! It's actually a very good time to start because your bubba would be due after the heat of summer (with any luck)!

Will this be everyone's first bubba (except for me of course)?

nat11, yes I am very excited about my wedding, especially since it will be our second wedding! We had a small one early January in Melbourne. We will be flying back to Europe in September, and have a bigger one there with all our friends and family. We can't wait to start TTC but I thought it might be a good idea to wait after that european wedding.
It will be our first bub!

Blacklash, I agree there is probably nothing we can do to get you ready for pregnancy/first bub. it is exciting and a bit scary at the same time.

rainbow road, good on you for starting to cut out caffeine and alcohol. What type of exercise do you do at your gym? Cardio, weight, fitness classes?

I lost another 200g this week, 4.8kg to go and I will be at my best weight for wedding and TTC I hope to get there by the end of June.
Am I the only one still on the pill? I wonder if I should stop taking it already...

Lili, Sometimes it can take up to 6 months for the pill to get out of your system and other times it's pretty much instant. That might be a Q for your GP. Where are you getting married? I have a lot of family in Europe too so I've been a few times and to most countries. I particularly love Austria's Salzkammergut region and the Scandinavian countries but it's all incredibly beautiful. My brother lives in London and the rest are in Scotland (except mum and dad who only live 1000km away in Brissy). I'm hoping to take bubba over there before we TTC again but it's a matter of saving some extra $ for the trip since I'm going to be a SAHM for the foreseeable future.
