Smile Placenta Previa and the 'Big O'

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and during my 12 week ultrasound it was discovered that I have a low lying placenta that is covering my cervix. I have been told to abstain from sex, heavy lifting and intense excersise.

What i'm wanting to know is can I still have an orgasm??
Or is this off limits too? I was somewhat overwhelmed during my visit to the doctors and this question was the last thing on my mind. However, a month on, and raging with hormones, I'm starting to get frustrated.
Sorry if TMI but I have still been pleasuring my husband and we are keen to know if he can return the favour

I do not see my doctor again until the middle of March and obviously I would never do anything to jeopardise the health of my baby but wanted to know if I was 'going without' unneccessarily.

Has anyone had first hand experience with this?

    Thanks

    Hi Doc,

I am 26weeks with placenta previa. My doctor has specified NO orgasms, but I have had some very serious bleeds and have been in and out of hospital. I wouldn't until you have seen your doctor again, just to be on the safe side.

    Good luck

    Thanks CateD

This sucks, pregnancy is the only time my sex drive is higher than my husbands and we can't even enjoy it.

Better to be safe than sorry!!

Hi. I've had slight placenta previa with both of my pregnancies (no bleeding or complications) and was told to abstain from sex which we did. I didn't ask about orgasms either and like you my libido and hormones were raging. So in answer to your question, yes I have had many orgasms with placenta previa without any problems (not from intercourse). I'm not saying it is advised to do it but I was able to have orgasms without any problems at all. At 32 weeks pregnant with both pregnancies I discovered that my placenta had moved, fingers crossed yours will do the same. All the best.

    Thanks Mellem

I did end up having an orgasm but not intentionally!!

All these hormones must have got the better of my body because I woke up from a rather erotic dream mid orgasm. This has never happened to me before, didn't actually know it was possible
I sat up so fast I woke up hubby and he said, "Are you all right?"
"Yep just fine darling go back to sleep" lol.

At this stage no adverse consequences, not sure how I would have explained that to the doctor!
