Default Townsville primary schools around kalynda chase

Hi there - I'm moving to Townsville in Jan next year and am currently looking into the kalynda chase area to move to. I have someone going to get some info for me from primary schools around the area (as I'm in new Zealand) and wanted to ask u guys what are the schools I should look into? I do ideally like the idea of my girls going to a school close to home. And have no issue with public vs catholic vs private etc. All suggestions welcomed!!

Kalynda chase is right near the highway do you have a few options:

    Private I would look at:
    Ryan Catholic College
    St Claires Catholic College

    Public I would look at:
    Willows state primary school
    Weir state primary school

    Jump on the website:
    http://www.myschool.edu.au/

It compares NAPLAN results around the country and rates the students overall performances.

Overall I wouldn't worry too much about any of the primary schools in Townsville except Kelso and Rasmussen.

    Hope that helps

Those are the four closest to kalynda chase but they definitely aren't walking distance... There aren't any schools in walking distance unfortunately.

That's ok, I live in walking distance now to my daughters school and barely walk lol thanks for that! Are any of the listed known to be 'better' than the others?

St Claire's is only new so it will top notch facilities but Ryan is still good. They are catholic so there will be a religious component and they can be difficult to get in to if you aren't baptised. Willows is newer than weir but my nephew goes to weir and it has been excellent for him (he started grade 5 after being pulled out of mundingburra state school because of some major issues with the teacher and principle). I don't think I'd rate any particularly better than the other - others may have different opinions though. Another good site is WOMF.com (word of mouth). Click Townsville and look under the schools section and there should be 'reviews' of schools

I have lived in this area for almost 32 years, have a school aged child, and have worked in childcare and education since 1998 and my pick would be either St Claire's or Willows, depending if you went public or private. In fact, I live nowhere near there but out of all public schools I would choose Willows. Out of private schools, in that area, I would choost St Claire's and have 2 friends with kids there, and do occasional pick up for one of them. My next option would be to drive a bit further and try for Cathedral or Holy Spirit. I'm picky with schooling, though lol. My child has a disability so I have to be. Ryan is ok, but not one I would choose.

    Hey

I'm going to go against the grain and say we didn't like the Willows SS. And by we, i mean my 2 DD's hated it. I have moved them this year to a private school.

I have a GF whose children go to Ryan and she has mainly positive feedback.
