Default TMI question re return of AF after miscarriage and tampons

I miscarried a month ago, and my bleeding stopped about 2-3 weeks ago, and today I'm at the gym and have just started bleeding. I only have a tampon in my car, it's ok to use now that I'm not actually miscarrying, right?
Stupid question, it's just earlier than I expected to be my period. I thought it was generally 6 weeks later that it returned.
And while I'm asking, would I be counting from the actual loss, or from the end of the bleeding?

Thanks for reading my personal and kinda gross ponderings

    I'm really sorry.

As far as I understand it, if your period has returned it should be fine to use a tampon the month after a miscarriage.

Generally when counting, it's done from the first day of the loss (or period) not from the last.

    Thanks Tam

I thought so, but I was worried that being fairly recent there was a possibility it was my period and was still mc related. Not sure really yet what my body is doing... Time will tell.

And counting from the first day the bleeding started means it was 4 weeks ago. I guess that could be right...
    Thanks again
