Default Drinking water before a scan

I am booked in for my NT scan this afternoon, and have been instructed to drink and hold a litre of water before the ultrasound.

I am really struggling to drink water atm though. Does anyone know if any other kind of fluid is acceptable? I have no trouble drinking soda, juice, soft drink etc, just not water.

Would love to hear from anyone in the know TIA!

Can you drink cordial? Or water with lemon?

with mine i was told 800 mls of water and then 200 mls orange juice. i think it is more the liquid amount they want over what sort of liquid. Give the place a call and check with them to be sure.

    A whole litre! Christ.

I have been told one glass of water, one hour beforehand.
Anything that has water as main component should be fine - cordial, watery fruit juices etc.

    Goodluck holding that!

I heard that any clear fluid is fine...but I think the main thing is to just have a full bladder, so your uterus is pushed up.
I hate water, so I usually just drink whatever I have, and I've never had a problem

With the scans I have been told to drink a litre for I have just drunk 600ml in the car on the way to the scan place.

I've never had a problem with my bladder not being full enough and they've been able to see everything they need to.

I have my NT scan tomorrow and I've been instructed to drink 600ml of water in the 45 mins leading up to my scan and then a glass of juice in the 15 mins just prior to the scan. They told me the juice is to get bub moving.

I got told 1 litre of "water based fluid" so I had a big mug of peppermint tea and a powerade. It did the trick - a little too well! I was busting!
