Default Decreased HCG Level but Normal Ultrasound - Anyone Experienced This?

    Hello

I had an early scan that showed nothing so doctor requested I get my HCG levels checked via blood tests. I got the results yesterday and they weren't good. My levels went from 5300 to 5100 over a weekend and I was having ongoing spotting for over a week. Doctor indicated it wasn't a good sign and did a referral for an ultrasound to confirm likely miscarriage.

After being completely distraught for ages, I rang to book the ultrasound and they got me in last night. The scan showed a healthy developing baby, dated at 6w,3d with everything as should be and a strong 128bpm heart beat. I was shocked as I expected there to be nothing there. But the ultrasound person said everything looks good and she sees nothing of concern at this time.

Back to the doctor Friday and she didn't want me to get another blood test when I phoned to book so not sure what the appointment will be but has anyone else had HCG levels that may have gone down but their scan was all good?

Things are looking bleak. Bleeding has increased with light cramps. Almost feels like I have AF but not heavy enough bleeding or pain.

Unfortunately in my experience emergency does nothing for you. I had a miscarriage a few years ago and bled very heavily at the hospital. All they did was have a look, give me an Anti-D shot tell me I had a 10% chance of still being pregnant and sent me home. It was awful.
Perhaps another hospital may be different ie a specialist maternity hospital like King Edward.
    Good Luck

Hi Harmony, I was wondering how you were going. I think what I've learned from so many brave women here on bubhub is that many of the threatened or actual m/c seem to make them play the waiting game for an unbearably long time. I'm so sorry for the anguish you have been going through. It's just so unfair. I've not heard of hgc levels dropping for other reasons except ectopic which you don't have or else a disappearing twin which I'm not sure if that would show up on a scan. But i really don't know sorry. I agree with the OP and would go to the emergency with the bleeding. I was told that you are supposed to go each time new bleeding presents. I hope you get some answers soon. Thinking of you and sending much love and strength xx

Things are no better. Heavier bleeding, AF style cramping but still with pregnancy symptoms so doc thinks threatened miscarriage and wants me to rest and wait until Tuesday for another scan but to go to the emergency room over the weekend if it gets worse. Just can't believe this is so stressful. I thought I'd have an easy time of pregnancy but I guess you never know

You poor thing. Take yourself to bed rest for the entire weekend. Dont lift, dont strain dont do anything. Lets pray and hope that all will be okay.
