It's been a while since I started this thread, but since i have I have found that either:

McDowall - you have to live in the catchment area
    Patricks road state school
    Albany Hills state School
Albany creek state school - ALL of these are great, I went to each of them myself and have asked locally lots of questions and these 4 get the thumbs up!

    Hi,

I looked into Albany Hills State School and it is fantastic. We ended up going private, but if we didn't we would have chosen Albany Hills for sure! It isn't zoned either, so it doesn't matter where you live.

    Thanks a lot,ladies.
Pina colada,do you think private is better, and which one are your kids going to?
    MSS shows the highest grading.

I dont know if sending my son to a big renowned school is better or a small one really. As kids adjust easily when they are little. My workplace will be in Chermside, but didnt like craigslea reviews,so need to decide about nearby ones.

What about swimming classes, etc at MSS
We have to rent a house depending on school, finding house also doesnt seem to be an easy job .

Will need guidance, ladies Thanks a lot again

Depends what you want in a school... if you go private, which religion would you go with/are you? there are lots of Catholic private schools around. There's Our lady of the Angels at Wavell Heights, St Anthony's at Kedron, St Dympna's at Aspley, Queen of the Apostles at Stafford, there's a few more around, just can't remember them.. i know of Prince of peace lutheran college at Everton hills, it's K-12 so the same kids go thru from beginning to start, there is also Hillbrook Anglican College/school at Enoggera.. then you have Clayfield college at Clayfield etc..

MSS is a very big school. Most private schools are generally smaller. I have my dd's name down at Prince of Peace Lutheran college as they cater for everything we are looking for and also the fact they are K-12. I know there they take the kids to swimming at the Samantha Riley swim school in Flockton st, and I had asked around locally regarding the schools and it seemed to be a popular school. My dd is starting kindy there next year. yay.

but yes, I would definately second Albany Hills SS as well. I was quite impressed with their tour and found out of all the public schools i had looked at , it had the most extra curricular activities out of any of them.

Best thing to do is to take a tour of each school and ask as many questions as you can.

We chose a catholic school as we definitely want our children to attend a catholic high school not a public high school and having them go to a catholic primary school gives them a much higher chance if enrolment.

My kids are going to Holy Spirit School in Bray Park which is 5 mins from our house.
