Not sure you'd need to check with CL but I would think the BB is only for babies born here

that is what we thought too but he is due to be paid it soon they said something like $800 something first payment then f/n payments of less. SO he is qualified for it just wondering if this will be counted as income because its a bonus not income imo and should be spent on baby not CS so that is why I ask

Del I think you can claim baby bonus for bubs under 6 months that you adopt which I would think would include overseas adoption. So maybe an Australian parent is all that is required ...

I'm pretty sure it is not counted as income, but is call family assistance and double check.

And yes, definitely do Qualify for the baby bonus. My dd was born in the UK and came here at 7 months, we just missed out as you have to apply and be living here before they turn 6 months.

Sorry to crash this section, I don't think it is counted as income at all. But again, I would check with CL. As a PP said, you don't have to declare it on your tax return, so like FTB I would say its not income. But I'm no expert.

family tax benefit (there are parts A and B).

This is the eligibility criteria - so if the father is eligible for FTB within 26weeks of the child's birth - as he does care for bub - then he'd be eligible. It says you only need to be an Australian resident, or hold even a temporary visa for Australia, or an Australian passport:
are eligible for Family Tax Benefit for the child (disregarding the FTB income test) within 26 weeks of the child's birth or adopted child aged under 16 years being entrusted to your care, or
It then says Baby bonus is not taxable - so - nope it won't affect Child support income (if centrelink payments are involved) centrelink payments.

    Details here
