I don't use them, but I don't think they should be banned.

To not ban things because other things are allowed is stupid IMO. There's also an alternative to sunbeds: spray tanning, which is easy to do and healthier for your skin. You can also just go lay in the sun if you're desperate to turn yourself in a walking piece of leather by age 40. I see no benefit to keeping solariums legal.
Completely agree with the post above.

Tanning beds don't penetrate as deep into your skin as laying in the sun does, and its not like you should be laying in a tanning bed for ages every day. I used it twice a week for 10mins each time. I also moisturise heavily twice a day so my skin will never be like leather. The amount of people that get cancer is minimal considering the huge amount of people that use tanning beds!
Whaaat? Seriously this post is dangerously inaccurate People do get skin cancer from these machines, the rays do penetrate just as deeply and, IMO, there is NOTHING healthy about looking tanned unless that is your normal skin color. Look up Clare Oliver and try telling her family that the rays don't penetrate as deeply and that tans look healthy.

I have a sad story concerning tanning salons. There was a girl named V in my Child Care course. She was getting married in a month and wanted a tan for her big day.
She went booked at several different salons every week, sometimes 2-3 times a day!
We all told her that it could be dangerous.
Well the day before her big day, she died.
It was soon revealed to us that in her autopsy, she was COOKED from the inside out.

Wow... sometimes all you can do is...

Can't believe anyone in this day and age would think that using a tanning bed is no real skin cancer risk...

Associate Professor Grant McArthur, from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, says of solariums, "They deliver five times the dose of UV radiation than the midday sun. They are also clearly linked to increased rates of skin cancer."
