    Default Immune system during pregnancy

    I'm 22 weeks.

Just wondering if you immune system is higher or lower during pregnancy??

I am never sick.... ever!! I have not had a sore throat or cold/flu like symptoms for YEARS!!! I normally have a great immune system!!! and my 10 year old son is exactly the same... he has never been sick a day in his life!!!

But the last week, i have had a sore throat, raspy voice, blocked ears, blocked and runny nose blah blah blah..... I haven't felt this crappy for so long i can't remember...

Is that normal for your immune system to be lower?

It is quite normal as you now sharing it with bubs. Get lots of fluids & rest. See your gp before taking anything for sore throat or headaches... etc

Yes. Your immune system is lower during pregnancy.
As for the nasal stuffiness, it's probably due to the high levels of estrogen and progesterone circulating in the body, which increases blood flow to the mucous membranes of the nose. And the fact that the ears, throat and nose are all connected means that ear infections are common as well.
I have a book that lists the expected symptoms for each month and "Nasal congestion/nose bleeds; ear stuffiness" is listed in the fourth and fifth month.
