I haven't needed to TBH. DS is devastated if he's told to sit on his bed for bad behaviour, DD#1 frustrates me so much sometimes that if I smacked her I don't think I would stop so it's best not to even start!! DD#2 is devastated if I tell her that she's done something naughty so it's enough to just tell her she's been naughty!

I live in a small community and I have always been questioned in regards to our choice not to smack! I am one of a very few! It's interesting to see in different areas which way is the majority.

Not generally, but I have done a couple of times when she was about 3/4. I'm not against it when used sensibly. A mum at school smacked her little girl, about 3, when she ran behind cars. The mum was tellin her to stay with her but she had a toddler in one arm and a stack of school books in the other. She calmly put the books down on the front of the car, took the child by the hand, walked her back to the car and gave her a single smack on the butt then told her it was for walking away from her in traffic. I don't blame or judge her for it.

    No way, no how.

I don't like being hit so why would the kids?

I have maybe 2-3 times in their lives. I hate myself for it, mainly because it was my anger that got the better of me, and DS really knows how to push push push!

Otherwise we are a "hands off" household.
