WARNING!!! Thai military has clamped down on all ivf clinics banning PGD for sec selection, commercial surrogacy and commercial egg donation.
Be careful with giving deposits to any agent right now as there is mismatched information circulating. All Thai clinic websites have removed surrogacy services, and many websites are down.
Please read Surrogacy Australia website on the update situation on their front page.
Apparently the future will be you will need to bring in your own egg donor and own surrogate. All this can change in an instant as that's Thailand buy very unnerving for people about to or wanted to commence their journey. Fingers crossed things don't get cut off for IPs.

And here I just received Ozforex's email confirming my donor payment to Cathie Sanchez's company completed successfully. Bugger! <sigh> Thanks a million for the good heads-up, Petals!!! I'll email and update if anyone from her company replies back.
Heard back from Cathie, and she said, "You can continue as before we may need to make adjustments but everything will continue as before." Given that tomorrow is the Thai Military's meeting with the ART clinics and doctors, I'm still a little nervous but my fingers are crossed. My donor won't start until Nov. so I have a long wait for lots of changes to occur. Regardless, I definitely appreciate you sharing the latest Thai info, Petals...THANK YOU!!!
Hi Project. Yes there is a meeting in Thailand today. There is another Australian agent Megan Sainsbury sorry forgot her website who provides egg donors and surrogates to All IVF. She has been advised no egg pick ups are being done. And no new egg donor or surrogacy bookings to be taken whilst they do not know what is happening. Thai clinics where audited. All Ivf clinic was audited and are fine but still they are not proceeding with egg donations so what is Cathy's saying about Worldwide IVF clinic she works with? Clinics are scared as there are fines and big jail terms. I don't believe any agent right now saying everything is same as since two very good agents are not taking bookings. The only people who can give the answer is the Thai govt hopefully soon then I would check with clinic direct then your agent.
There are IPs in limbo as we speak who had the have their donor eggs frozen and sperm frozen until further notice. No donor embryos being formed.
Hopefully you should be fine by November but we won't know what changes there are. It's such a win win situation for every party involved, it's a shame if these laws do eventuate fingers crossed for you and everyone
hi, petalsgalore and all,
thank you all for the info. petalsgalore you have mentioned two very good agents - do you mean Thai fertility and Newlife? They both react fast and told me thing need to be hold (i was just about to book the donor). Some agent hiding it for a while and then tell me it should be OK soon...i don't really like it.
i just want to know which ones you refer to about good agents.
looked into US. top clinics, totally legal. just so few Asian donors.
has anyone used Marvel (Pinky)? the clinic they work with seems small and unprofessional. IVF didn't even mentioned in the clinic web page. maybe that's how they protect themselves?
in regards to getting yourself prepared for transfer, do you go to IVF specialist or GP or some other doctor? they told me i need to take certain drugs for like 2 months before transfer? i would be more comfortable to do that under a local doctor's guidance.
I know that Thai authorities have been looking at drafting a surrogacy law for the past few years. As more couples utilised surrogacy services & sought citizenship/passports from their embassies, the embassies were asking more and more questions of the Thai authorities about the regulation and legal basis of surrogacy. While donors weren't initially included in their review, it seems that aspect has now been caught up in the review.
Thanks for the additional good info, Petals and Twocam!
Hi Petals - I booked my donor right before the Thai Military made their announcement so I'm not sure if this is why Cathie told me they/we may have to make some adjustments, but proceeding as before. However, my payment only completed a few days ago (after the announcement) so I'm back to worrying after reading your post, especially as Fertility Choices (Cathie's company) has taken down their website but the other clinics' websites are still available today. One of the articles noted, Thai "IVF clinics won't be allowed to provide surrogates and egg donors, an independent agency should provide the candidates instead" - my dumb question...is Fertility Choices (or Worldwide IVF), a.k.a. Cathie's company, considered a clinic or an independent agency? I'm hoping her company is considered an independent agency, as perhaps this is why she mentioned things will proceed as before...hoping, anyway.
The All IVF Center website still lists egg donors and surrogacy as services but their language doesn't specify if they can provide the actual donors/surrogates, so I'm curious if this is how they passed their audit. I'll start researching for Plan B, if the Thai military ends up banning commercial egg donors. If that happens, I just hope I get my donor fee refunded
Hi Rainbow - I've never used Pinky/Marvel; never heard of them, actually. Regarding egg donors in the USA, from what I recall, it's technically illegal to sell body parts in the USA and eggs/follicles are considered body parts. Egg donors and clinics there don't "sell" but donors are then "compensated" for time lost from work, health, etc. The USA's SART guidelines for compensation is $4,000 - 10,000 USD per cycle. A lot of clinics adhere to the compensation fee guidelines and lots don't. You're right that there aren't a lot of Asian donors over there. Best of luck to you and I'm glad we're connected on this forum!
