Default Is this stealing an idea?

My SIL to be has had her colour royal blue picked since before she got engaged. We are getting married about 6 months apart with me first. I had originally chosen a teal colour but my bridesmaids aren't a fan of the colour. I have found a fantastic bridesmaid dress is cobalt which is really similar to royal blue... What is the ettiquette here? I don't want her to feel that I've stolen her colour but it's the only colour my bridesmaids all like, I love this dress. Our weddings overall are very different.. Mine is casual beach hers is church formal... What are your thoughts!?!

I think she might get grumpy about it. She obviously is quite attached to the colour if she had it picked before she even got engaged. Can you talk to her about it?

My sil got married 6 months before us, and I would if been really annoyed if she had 'stolen' my colour... Especially if it was very common knowledge that that particular colour was what I would be using.
Maybe the dress they all like comes in another colour?

Can you just ask her and show her the dress you like?

I would talk to her about it but I'd be prepared for her to say she's not happy with it. Can you get the dresses in another colour?

At the end of the day, no one owns a colour for their wedding but brides are generally pretty precious about their wedding day.

Don't do it. SIL and I had 4 weeks between our weddings and that in itself caused issues. Still we don't chat about our weddings. It's not worth the trouble in the long run!

I'd be annoyed if I was her.

Is it possible to get the dresses in a different colour, or maybe even made in a similar style in a different colour?

I agree, dont do it, there are so many other colours. And who cares what your bridesmaids like, it is your wedding? I have worn some hideous bm dresses but would never have questioned them.
