    Default Spotting at 8 weeks

    Hi all
So I'm 8 weeks today. For the past week every day or two I've had the tiniest bit of dark blood when I wipe. The other days was a bit more than a tiny bit so I went to Hosp for a check up. They did an u/s and bub is in the right spot, heart beating etc with no probs. so what is the spotting? It's freaking me out. I didn't have spotting with DD (who is now 9!)
Has anyone experienced this and gone on to have no probs? I should also point out I have no pain or cramping and all other preg symptoms like ms, sore boobs etc are still very present, and bt last week showed hcg going up like it ought to. TIA

I'm not sure what the cause is but spotting in the first trimester is extremely common and normal.

I had spotting at 6 weeks and again at 9 weeks. The spotting I had at 9 weeks lasted a full week! It freaked me out big time. My Ob said that as long as there's no cramping or clots, then all is fine and normal. Am now over 33 weeks and bubs is very healthy and happy

Try not to worry - I'm sure everything is just fine!

hopefully it isnt anything to worry about.
i had it with ds between 7-9weeks and then with this bubba around the same time and the fertility specialist couldnt find a reason why. he said it was most likely the placenta burrowing in and hitting a blood vessel.

Spotting is often caused by DTD. DTD bumps the blood vessels (which are engorged and more sensitive due to being pregnant) around the cervix and this often causes a small amount of blood.

I had perinatal hematomas with both my pregnancies which caused me to have gushes of blood (like a heavy period), clotting and cramping for a few days or weeks at a time from 5-20 weeks both pregnancies. The hematomas bleed out or reabsorb and carry a higher likelyhood of miscarriage, but most will result in a healthy bub at the end (like mine).

Yours sounds like 'normal' spotting, try not to stress. Its more likely that you WILL spot at some stage than not (ie most pregnancies experience some spotting)

Also, my OB told me that blood is an irritant to the uterus so not all cramping means something bad, it can just be a reaction to the blood.

I had brown spotting at 7 weeks from DTD and then a gush of blood that lasted an hour.
Cervix just got mega irritated but it was closed and a little heartbeat was there. I'm currently 25weeks along with a healthy bubba.

I had regular spitting right from first finding out I was preg right through till about 18 weeks. Even now every now and again when wiping I still get the odd bit here and there and I am 34 weeks! The whole time my dr has told me it is of no consequence. I too had no cramping or pain! Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine :-)
