Default Guilty about getting good marks?

Hi everyone just a quick note to ask if anyone else feels guilty when they get good marks and their friends don't?

I just received an HD for an assignment (that I thought was just ok) and my friend only received a C for the same assignment. I thought that she worked really hard on it and now I feel a bit guilty that I received a good mark and she didn't.

What do you say to your friends?

I wouldnt feel guilty about getting good marks.... You obviously covered all the assessment criteria and your friend hasnt.. They should realise this I think. Maybe compare your assignments and offer some help in the areas that werent covered properly. But never feel guilty because you have done something really well

I get what your saying Emma, but I too, do feel guilty sometimes when I receive good marks and my friend doesn't. Especially on multiple occasions. My friend is failing the course and I still get top marks and she's struggling to pass each exam and assignment. I completely understand where your coming from but as much as I feel guilty, I would definatley not give up my good marks- after all I have a child to provide for, it's not like we can easily go back and complete the course later. And we put the effort in, we deserve good marks!

No don't feel guilty, why should you its your hard work...I know how hard it can be, esp with kid I admire you for that (I was struggling at uni although I had graduated now and this was before Thomas time), just enjoy it!

Maybe for the next assignment you could offer her some useful hints or something like that....

    Exclamation no way jose!!

i'm with everyone else on this, don't feel guilty for someonelse. you put in the effort..you get the results. No-one can do it for you. I'm studying at the moment and we have a person in our class who just doesn't make any effort..will whinge a lot and say i don't understand...a lot of us have tried to help this person and got extensions on assignments for them, gave them research info for assignments etc...but still won't get of thier own big furry botty and do thier own work...so as a group we have decided that we no longer offer or give help, and we don't have that person sitting near us inclass..i know it sounds harsh but that person only holds everyone else back...and i'm not sacrificing my marks, for the sake of that person....i'm doing this for myself and my son..i want a better career and for my son to look up to me when he's and be able see that the improved quality of life we have is because i got off my booty and made it work!!
ok and now i'll get of the podium!!!

My sister and I were really competitive with each other when we were still studying. We would always be comparing marks with each other, but then other people would ask to compare with us and it would be a bit embarassing - we would be agonising over 94 compared with 96 and trying to figure why the other got the extra 2 percent. the problem would be that other people would hear us trying to figure out what marks we had missed and want to compare as well, and then you would have to admit that you only missed 4 or 6 percent in total.... They wouldn't understand BUT they didn't have years of coming home to parents that if you got 99% they wouldn't say WELL DONE, they would ask which one you got wrong, and do you understand why (boohoo me)

Glad I'm not the only one...If I got an A, there was no congrats, just 'why isn't it an A+?'

I have vowed never to do that to my children. There are much better ways of instilling the same values.

LOL I feel guilty when I get bad marks - It means I spent all that time away from my family and I only just passed .. but when I get a good mark I'm over joyed because all that time was worth it

    Just a different perspective.

Don't feel guilty - just enjoy it !
