The new school year has started for some children and starts soon for others. How are you feeling about your gifted child starting a new year? Do you feel nervous about the teacher understanding your child? How do you manage advocating for your child and yet not coming across as one of *those* parents?

Do you talk to your child's teacher about your child & their special needs for extension/etc? I know lots of mums say that this isn't needed & it will become clear to the teacher, but unfortunately the research suggests otherwise for lots of children. I know my ds is very quiet & tends to keep most of his interests/talents to himself making it hard for the teacher to notice him much.

I thought it would be good to get this gifted section active again Hope this topic gets us talking, especially to help Mums of gifted children who are dealing with these issues for the first time.
