From what i've heard eternity rings can be given whenever - i think after the first child is a common time people give them, or a significant anniversary.
Nearly 5 years of marriage and 2 kids for me, but no eternity ring.

Benji - He has had the jewels to make my eternity ring for years - just hasn't got round to making the ring as i'm supposed to design it (and i have no idea about designing rings ). I'm not too fussed - 3 rings would be a bit overkill for my little fingers so i probably wouldn't wear it much anyway.

That's why I don't ever want one - puny finger syndrome

That sounds like fun! Maybe if you could make something funky for the other hand or that could go on a chain as a necklace? I think making one yourself is a really cool idea.

I wear both. My wedding band curves around my engagement ring do they look nice together. I also have beveled engagement ring so it won't stretch. I take them off at home but even thought I've been married over a year I still sit and gaze at them during the day at work :-)

Typically eternity rings are given after the birth of the first child or on the one year anniversary of their wedding.

I just wear my wedding band as my engagement ring has a big stone and I keep getting it caught on everything, plus the claws need fixing as the stone is a bit loose. I won't chance wearing it in case the stone drops out.

    Yep, I wear both

I took my engagement ring off for the wedding though, and put it back on when we got home.

I wear my wedding ring on my finger first, with my engagement ring in front of it (closest to the end of my finger).
