    Default Confused...

    Hi!!

Can someone help me with this...

I'm entitled to 20 weeks paid maternity leave through my employer. This is completely separate to the government paid parental leave scheme.

So, do u also get the government one on top of this? And how much is it, approx, per fortnight? And for how long?

Yes, either Baby Bonus or PPL + what ever your employer offers.

centrelink has the information on both the Baby Bonus and PPL, look them up to see which would be better for you.

you can get paid employer mat leave at the same time as the paid parental leave or one after the other (not sure if this has changed since the ppl now comes from your employer instead of centrelink). mine finished in july, it was $1070/fortnight, less tax and went for 18 weeks. it counts as income (so is taxed) mine was auto taxed at 15% but i changed it online to 20%, just depends on what other income you have

Did you get paid maternity leave as well as PPL, or just PPL. I am in the same boat with the paid maternity leave (not complaining), just unsure whether to take them together (tax wise) or seperately!
