Can anyone tell me what clinics in Brisbane do HAICSI or PICSI? We've had one failed IVF cycle with 6 mature eggs that couldn't make it to blastocyst and want some ideas about whether this technique is available in Brisbane and which fertility centre does it.

    Hi everyone,

Wow, thanks for all the replies and huge congratulations to those who have managed a BFP!

We are doing an antagonist cycle for selective icsi (isci-ha) now. I'm pretty excited about it but after so many disappointments know not to get my hopes up. We shall see.

Akakura - have you had any more tests done? I know the feeling of feeling like you are not getting any answers and just going into another dead cycle. I'm with MIVF and they did the SCSA in two weeks. It cost $300 out of pocket but was worth it if it saved us another dud cycle. I have no idea why they don't test for dna frag if you have MFI. It seems very unfair that we have to go through multiple failures and miscarriage to have the test run. If you FS won't run the test, is there another one you can go to? Best of luck.

    to us all.

Hi aloevera, i know MIVF does SCSA and my DH has got the referral from them to do this testt. From your post I would like to ask if this test tests DNA frag? My DH has MFI but we were never told to do SCSA uuntil I read up about this test late last year.

We have been using 3 cycles of HA ISCI. In our 3rd try we got BFP. For me I concluded that it was my eggs that probablyy caused the previous failures not his sperm. COs though low count, there should be at least a few good ones embryologist can pick up using HA ICSI.

    Hi NewIvf

Bruce Dunphy at Bubtree (its part of Monash IVF) in Sunnybank does HA ICSI as well. We've just finished our 2nd cycle with him, it was a BFN but going back in today for his thoughts. Our embies also don't do well after D3 ~ our first cycle we did standard IVF and the second HA ICSI unfortunately my DH sperm pretty much all bound with the HA so according to the scientist it didn't help in our case and the growth still slowed after D3 ...hmm be interesting to hear his thoughts today....

Other then that we've found the clinic really nice....its quite small so you get to know the staff all really well.

    Hi girls,

Firstly big CONGRATS to Mom2OneDS so exciting to see ur BFP
good to see some success stories! Despite you being a little disheartened with your FS, looks like u got there in the end!!

aloe vera - How are u going? where are u up to with this cycle? u get a sticky embie this time.

I've got my 2nd FET tomorrow. getting 2 embies transferred!! At my scan last week I made DH come with me and we asked our FS a lot of questions about what will happen if this cycle doesnt work out. And i want to be hopeful but i'm thinking this might be a dud batch

I forgot to ask about SCSA, but i'm pretty sure my FS will b like ur FS, aloe and say it wont give any conclusive results or answers. And like u, Mom2oneDS, I suspect that my eggs might not have been the best since I was over stimmed with 23 eggs collected.

I did ask about HA-ICSI and FS wasnt that positive about it saying that it doesnt increase pregnancy rates to a statistically significant level, basically because there havent been enough large scale studies done to quantify results (its a numbers game). He did suggest we could try 'zona pellucida bound sperm', which is similar to HA-ICSI but instead of using HA (an enzyme) they use immature eggs collected from EPU to attract healthy sperm and then use these sperm for ICSI. Of course i went googling and found this article, which is by an MIVF researcher too:
    http://www.nature.com/aja/journal/v1...a2010179a.html

it gives a little more detail about what i've just tried to explain, and sounds quite hopeful and a relatively simple procedure for embryologist to do.

I have made an appt with an FS at Monash IVF just to get a second opinion, no point heading down a dead end road for no reason. The new FS might just tell me the same thing and thats ok at least i will feel slightly more reassured

    aka
