Default Have you ever used a financial advisor?

I have a few financial goals for the future but I'm not very good at finances...I find it all really confusing. I am great at saving money but I know nothing about interest, investments or anything like that, and hence I wouldn't know where to begin.

I am wondering whether a financial advisor would be a good idea? Can anyone offer some advice regarding experiences with financial advisors (was it worth it, etc?).

Haha oh true?! You have probably told me that before, oops

I just need some advice regarding personal financial planning...do you think seeing someone like your boss would be a good step to take?

I asked about this not long ago on here and was warned about fees, making sure they are genuine etc. so didn't pursue it and found it very hard to try and find one because you don't know who's good or not.

Yeh it could be a good idea. The tend to specialize in different areas, some investment some insurance. They will look at your finances and make suggestions about best place to put money WTC. The will look at debts, goals and make plan.

But they not free and will make money of you so you need to figure out how they doing that and make sure their advice still suits.

As an example my adviser amongst other stuff sells insurance and earns commissions.

Did u want to email me a bit more specific, or on here if your comfy.

Yeh recommendations are important. We work with accountants a lot. They do get money for referrals but long term they need to recommend someone decent for the ongoing success of their own business.

You may also want to look for someone independent. A business owner like my boss earns his own money, he is not employed by a company he is recommending. He can recommend from a huge amount of companies depending on your needs and he only earns money off the money you earn.

An adviser at say a bank is paid by bank and may gave restrictions on products it can offer you.

Don't get me wrong, bthey all make money but you want the least biased advice possible and someone who is remunerated on your success not on their company targets iykwim
