I had this issue with my doberman, he's a big boy and I always felt like my hand was getting no blood to it and my arm was going to get dislocated from walking him. I purchased a halti and it was my best friend. It works like reins on a horse. When the dog tries to pull or jump it will make their head go down and automatically correct them. It doesn't choke them, they can breathe and drink water as normal and is great for training.

It did wonders for me, I can now walk my dog on a lead without any pulling whatsoever and he watches everything I do and copies. It took about 6 weeks of walking him every day morning and night for him to learn how to walk on a lead.
