    Default Baby Car Seats

Hi kids. I'm about to drop $750 on a brand new safety 1st capsule (5 star rated) and a Meridian AHR Tilt & Adjust. Tell me I'm doing the right thing!!! This includes shipping to my house.

Meridian car seat is great althiugh i find my now 17 month old gets peeved at the side panels as she cant see around them! I have a safe and sound capsule for my DS he is a big boy and is too big for it now at 3 months old.. But when it fit him it was brilliant!

Have you checked out the babython at target they have capsules and car seats inc saf and sound on sale.

do you need a capsule as well as a seat

target only sells the base models of safe n sound which just don't compare to the meridian

I bought a $400 carseat, then hired a capsule for $60 for 6 months, although she hit the limit and had to be upright by 4 months, so I put her in the carseat and had another 8 - 18kg.carseat. I always had 2 seats minimum for her. Definitey worth it.

We have a safe n sound guardian and a safe n sound meridian.

We don't use the meridian because she cant see out the window and gets quite frustrated.

She can see out the guardian seat at least.

Yeah, I did worry about those mega fuffy (?!) side head cushion protector things. Even when I put my 4.5 yr old in the Meridian T & A to check it out, she was pretty insulated ... not to mention that we're moving to Cairns, where it'll be HOT!!!!! Ah well - hopefully the kid will just live with it!

Thanks for the Target tips - I really want the Safety 1st brand capsule, though, as it gets 5-star rated by the CREP people and is the lightest weight. Hopefully I'll get my value out of it if I sell it as soon as I'm finished with it. There aren't any around 2nd hand for sale right now - I think they're too new. This is my last kid, too ... $$$ Plus I definitely want a capsule for the first few months - had one in the USA with my first and they're just invaluable when that baby falls asleep, not to mention all your quicky trips in and out the car, like paying for fuel, jumping out at the ATM, picking up a take-away/script etc etc, and being able to dump your kid on the floor in a big plastic bucket (so loving!!!) while you 'do business'.

We should get the money out of the Meridian, even though there are many cheaper seats - my 4.5 yr old sat in it and had HEAPS of room spare ...

Thanks, ladies - at least hubby is supportive. I think the dollars will be worth it for the Meridian T & A, because once that thing is FFing, we'll never have to take it out to re-thread the seat belts. I had this feature on my daughter's convertible RF/FF in the USA and it was fantastic to be able to make fast seatbelt adjustments for height while they're even sitting in the seat.

OK - I think I've talked myself into it
