Marzi - wow that was a bit of a reality check for me! On Friday I'll be 24 weeks so I still feel I've got ages to go, but when I read your post it felt a lot sooner!! So you're taking 6 weeks off before the birth? I'm trying to work that out at the moment as I have to put my maternity leave forms in soon.
I hear you on the reflux, I've had it the whole way through.

Frostysmum - WOW Congratulations!! So exciting Very happy for you.

Welcome across Rice I've heard bleeding is a bit more common in ivf pregnancies for some reason.

Lilybaby - how's Ethan? Sounds like he's doing really well How're you guys going?

Maryz - hope you're going ok with the cysts.

Felicita - no idea re the ear thing sorry. Haha same, I was showing before 20 weeks. I was still a bit paranoid that people might think it was extra weight not a bub, but I saw 2 friends who didn't know recently and they both instantly said wow you're pregnant, so I guess that cements it and it's just me being paranoid.

Can I ask a question about names please? We've narrowed our names down to a couple and told family yesterday. Sister in law who is pregnant with her 2nd but due a few months later asked how serious we were about one of the names as apparently they were thinking of using it and only had one name. We replied that I'd loved this name my whole life (which is true) and since then we haven't heard back. So I am torn. I don't want any bad blood or issues, but I don't want to give up this name either (my sister named her daughter something else though I didn't ask her to, as she knew how much I loved this name), but if they only have 1 name and we have 2 that we love, I don't want to keep it and be unfair. Very torn, sorry if it sounds like I'm over-reacting, but now I feel almost guilt tripped not to use it. If we ended up with 2 bubs the same sex we would definitely be using both, but if we give this one up this time we will lose it for next time. Sorry, I'm not usually a drama queen this just feels really important somehow. Pregnancy hormones probably don't help either..

My tummy is so itchy it's driving me crazy. I think it's the Clexane starting to give me side effects. Anyone experienced this?? I'm 10 1/2 wks preg and apparently have to stay on the Clexane till 16 weeks.<br />

Haydos1979 - I didn't see anything in your post that indicated SIL had a greater entitlement to the name. And there is nothing stopping both of you from using it. That's the wonderful thing about names, one person using it doesn't deplete the supply.

Saying they have only chosen one IMO doesn't increase their entitlement. My dad had an aunt and uncle who also insisted on choosing just one name - Leslie/Lesley - because they couldn't be bothered thinking up different boy and girl names. So then when they had twins, a boy and a girl, they really did call them Leslie and Lesley. Yes, that is an extreme example, but it highlights the ridiculousness of refusing to consider alternative names and becoming fixated on the one.

In DHs family it seems that nearly half the women are called Helen, and the remaining half called Kerry. They don't have a rule that if the name exists in the family already then you can't marry someone with the same name. This example seems to me more like the naming "problem" you've got, i.e. just because there's one of the name in the family no-one can bring in another of the same name. Just go for it. They know you're not "stealing" the name as you thought of it independently, and you know the same goes for them.

It may even result in the name becoming a traditional family name. There's a picture from the 1930s with the men in my family's hometown acting the part of their ancestors about 150 years previously. About 75% of them from both eras are called George and also have the same surname. Families can survive quite well even when names are the same.

Thanks Felicita and Loveabug for your help. You're right, we chose our name and should go ahead with it. And if they choose to use the same name a couple of months later, that's their call, and independent from us. Appreciate the comments

Yay Maryz. Every milestone is great.

I also have a scan on Monday morning - 19wks foetal anatomy scan.
We almost found out one of the genders last Monday at the obstetrician, but she didn't know at the time if we wanted to know, so as soon as she saw that she had a between-the-legs shot she moved it away so we wouldn't see by accident. Then after asking us if we wanted to know she was unable to get the same view back.
