    Default Tasmania for a week

We're going to Tassie for a wedding over Easter, flying to Launceston, driving to Swansea for the wedding, then driving to Hobart to go to MONA. We'll spend the last couple of days back up in Launceston, but at the moment we have about 2.5 days free. I'd like to go somewhere between Hobart and Launceston to break up the drive a bit, any suggestions? Bearing in mind that I'm UTD (so wineries not as fun as they could be) and we have a 2 year old who likes to RUN! But probably not up to strenous bushwalking or anything (neither would i)

    TIA

    Hey fearless
U should visit port Arthur - wide open spaces ur son can run around and a must see when at tassie - just half hour ish drive from Hobart.

Also Richmond have a little village set up that would be cool

Maybe go to one of the wildlife parka or tassie devil parks too

Have fun - I have my honeymoon in 3 weeks there can't wait - have been before its a beautiful place u will love it

    Elephants pass pancakes!
    Hastings caves
Ditto PP of Richmond, the lolly shop is amazing! And port Arthur is great.
Bruny island is probably too far out of your way really but definitely worth considering
Salamanca markets if you have a saturday morning free
Drive up Mount Wellington - knowing tassie weather there might be snow at the top

I love it when people ask where should I go and what should I visit in tassie!!!

My suggestions cause I'm pregnant to would be

Zoo Doo @ Richmond - great place where your youngster can see some great animals and run amuck!! They have tigers and I believe a new baby at the moment. You get on a safari bus to have a look at some parts and just wonders some others.

In Launceston where I live my two favorite places are -
city park cause they have monkey island and a nice play ground at the other end of park with ducks and fish in-between lots of shady trees great place for a picnic

The gorge is a natural park land with lots of nice easy walks a swinging bridge, a chair lift if you are game, a public swimming pool a small play area lots of grass. They also have a nice restaurant or you can just do the picnic thing again. Also have lots of bird life!!

Hope this helps - enjoy your stay in the apple isle

thanks everyone! I'm starting to think a week isn't going to be long enough! We are planning on doing a sto off at Port Arthur on the way down to Hobart, and probably a day trip to Richmond, too. Then I thought we might stop off for a night at Oatlands on the way back to Launceston, it looks really pretty! Anyone know much about it? Worth going to?
