Red face 1 week to go

    Good morning girls

I'm currently 39wks pregnant and have been experiencing quite a bit of jelly-like mucus for the past 3-4 days. Basically everytime I go to the loo I find it there on my panty liner. Its a clearish white colour with no blood streaks through it. I'm wondering if it is just normal to have a lot of vaginal mucus near the end or could this be my plug breaking away??

    Hi Sharn,

What you are describing is exactly what I had when preg. with Grace. I noticed in the morning when I had a shower and didn't think too much of it. Then again I noticed it at my nighttime shower. There was quite a lot of it as well. I rang the hosp. and the midwife said that it sounded like the mucous plug and we would probably see each other that weekend.

Well she was right at 2:00am the next morning contractions started, at 1:46pm the next day Grace was here!!!!

Good luck to you and I hope the birth goes well and welcome to the little one..

    Paula

Hi congratulations on getting closer to holding your baby. Yes it does sound like its your mucous plug. I had mine dislodge 1 week before my son was born. If there is no blood streaked in it, it definetly sounds like the mucous plug. If it was blood streaked it would be your "show". I didnt have my show until i was in labour. Yes it is also normal to have quite a fair bit of discharge towards the end of a pg. It sounds like your body is doing everything it should be doing.
Good luck with the labour and birth and let us know how you go.

Thanks so much for replying its comforting to know that things are starting to happen for us.

I now only have 3 days until my due date and I'm really hoping that I don't go to far over. I've been having lots of little pains that feel a bit like period pain but they come and go and each time I get excited thinking this could be the start and I wait for it to come back again but it never does. I know it is probably normal for anxiety to kick in about now and I feel bad for wishing my pregnancy away but I'm getting so excited about meeting our bub.

    Thanks again
    Sharn

Your feelings are natural. You've felt your little bundle moving around, it's only normal to get impatient about seeing it in person!!
Good luck and try to relax, from the pains you've been having I'd say you're body is starting to get ready, take now to have a rest while you still can
    Best wishes for everything!

How lovely to sight a mucus plug! I started losing mine a fortnight before I went into labour. Not long now
