Default Anyone get preggers while breastfeeding?

Just wondering as I have read that BFing is 98 percent effective for BC but now am wondering if its common for people to get preggers while using this method.

I got pregnant - trying - using OPKs, while breast feeding my 2.5 year old. But it was very effective contraception, as it took 2 years to get pregnant!

I have a 15mth age gap between them but we knew breastfeeding was no guarantee though.

yes twice and i continued to feed till they self weaned at 5months preg - both times.

i ended up with 16month & 20month gaps so no issues here falling preg. i did however have my period back straight away too. so obviously it didn't halt my ovulating.

Yes my ds was conceived when my first dd was fully breastfed. DD was 6months old, would only sleep on me, was not yet eating solids and my cycle hadn't returned (or so I thought). We DTD once and that was all it took lol.

I was told by my MCHN that for breastfeeding to be 98% effective contraception your bub must be under 6 months old, you can't have had a period and you have to be feeding on demand (also means no solids).
I also read that there must be no longer than 4 hours between feeds during the day or 6 hours between feeds during the night; so if bub has say an 8 hour stretch overnight without a feed that could be all it takes for some women to ovulate.
    Hope that makes sense

Yep! Bub was 10 months old, still BF'ing twice through the night and four times a day. She self-weaned pretty much the same day I got my BFP.

DD2 and DD3 were both conceived while BFing. With DD2 , DD1 was 4 months old and only BFing. With DD3, DD2 was 9 months old, but had only just started solids.
After all 3 births I got AF back within 6 weeks.

Thanks so its sounds like it is pretty effective so long as you have not gotten AF back.
