Luckily none of my neighbours even know our name (we live in a pretty transient community).

Is there a scam hotline/website you can check?

Can you be there this evening to answer her phone? (if you are 'that' kind of neighbour? - and by that, I mean close/friendly)

did your neighbour already answer him or is that why he is calling back tonight. i would tell her to say she not sure who her neighbours are or like chelley said - you speak to him direct.

it could be that someone is trying to serve him papers of some sort?

Does sound very odd. Does your hubby perhaps have an old debt from somewhere (not meaning to be rude at all). Debt collectors can be very sneaky and they could be wanting confirmation he does live there maybe. They harassed my folks neighbour once when looking for my brother

I agree that it is a tactic used by debt collectors.
