Default Sort of spin off, off the "would you want to know" thread

Okay, so the other thread got me thinking, if your partner told you he didn't like something about you/wanted you to change something, would you?
DP loves the way I look, loves my style, my weight etc. BUT i'm currently in the middle of drawing out my new tattoo design, it's much larger then all my other tattoos, which DP doesn't mind, but this one is going to cover most of my back, shoulder and come down my right arm (only the shoulder part) BUT he doesnt like my design, the main piece will be a sugar skull which he isn't keen on, would you change your design because of youur partners opinion, or go with your original piece anyway?

    Stick with your own design.

I might change my hair or clothes or whatever, but a tattoo is more personal.

I wouldn't change it. I figure it'd have to be pretty important to me if I was willing to get it permanently marked on my skin, so it wouldn't really be something I'd want to compromise on.

Thanks girls! I wasn't going to change it anyway Just wanted him to know that i'm not in the minority when it comes to this stuff.
FL - your right! I'm sure he will come around, we have been looking at designs for the past few hours and already he is starting to lighten up.

I have asked DH to get his fixed up by a real tamoko artist, his was a cheap job.

I'm happy to splurge big bucks on it, but have asked that he gets it extended over his back rather than arm as it will hinder his career prospects if it goes below the arm sleeve.

It's our money and his career prospects are my interest too, so I definitely have a say IMO.

I'm not saying you should, but I know that I would. I won't wear certain clothes if my DF says they don't look good on me, so I seriously doubt I'd get something permanent that he didn't like. But then I don't feel passionately about tattoos, I wouldn't get one anyway, so I can't really comment as someone who can really appreciate the situation.

As for would I want to know if he wanted to change something or would prefer I look different, he's pretty open about things I can change - aka - hair colour, clothes, style etc so I'm (usually) happy to hear and take on his opinion. I want his opinion & I do ask and except when I'm feeling sensative and actually just want a compliment, I appreciate his honesty...

... But if he didn't like something I couldn't change: My overall body shape, my dimply skin on my bum & thighs, stretch marks, my developing 'lunch lady' arms, my nose etc (particularly cos these are things I don't *love* about myself) I wouldn't want to know. He can keep that to himself and live with it. Lol.
