Default 2 weeks TT and we havent gotten anywhere!!

Hi all, so i started DS 3yrs TT 2 weeks ago. I put him in pull ups. We have had maybe a total of 2 days in the 2 weeks since we started where he did actually go the toilet (for wees only). But for the last week or more, he refuses to cooperate! He will sit on the potty but not do anything. Then moments later I will try again and he has gone in his pull up. I have a sticker chart that worked for a day, encouragement has gone out the window, and now I dont know what else to try.

I am starting to lose it! Am I doing something wrong, or can this be 'normal'. If this is what it is than I wont feel so bad, and just keep trying, but I wouldve thought that he would have the idea by now.

Have you tried just putting him in undies? I put my DD in undies and after a couple of days feeling how wet/uncomfortable it was to pee in her pants, she got the gist. It was messy but it worked.

My understanding is that pull ups are quite like nappies in that they feel it initially but then the moisture is drawn away. You may need a better disincentive...

It doesn't sound like he is ready.

i agree with L & L on the pull-ups, maybe try undies or no pants to give your DS more sensation of when he wets.

We've been TTing DD (2) for about a week now.

The first day, she did 3 wee's in the potty and the next day she did 1 poo and thats it. We kept her in undies for most of the weekend and she did a few wees in her undies and we just quickly shoved the potty under her as she weed and then when whatever was left went in the potty, we showed her and gave her lots of praise....It might take longer for us as the first half of the day, she is being baby sat at the inlaws and I dont think FIL is giving her much nappy off time, but it's still early days.

I figure she'll get it eventually.

I think 2 weeks to expect your DS to "have gotten it" by now is a bit hasty....give him more time, it's a new experience.

And I agree with the others, the pull ups are just acting as nappies.

Yup GET OUT of the pull ups. Try undies...or nothing at all. Let him run around outside with no pants on and have the potty at the ready. Its the perfect time to be doing it, with this nice warm weather we're having (in Perth anyway )

Pulls ups are just nappies...a waste of money IMO!!
