Its not their fault and people attacking them over things they have never been shown or taught isnt gonna help anyone
Checkout operators at the fresh food people do get trained how to pack bags, and what cannot be packed with other items. Meat, chicken and fish are all meant to be packed separately to grocery items, as are cleaners and sanitary items. Fruit and veg is all to go together, all other perishable items together. If the checkout operator had noticed the leaky chicken (which is a whole other story, shouldn't have been on show at all!!) she should have offered a replacement, or at least packed it into it's own bag.

I don't think attacking the operator is right either, but i didn't get that the OP attacked the operator, she said she calmly told her (then the bit about babies, which i do think was a bit OTT, but she did say she's hormonal), and that the operator said nothing back. I think, when doing my shopping, that it is the checkout operators responsibility to make sure i leave the store happy with the service i have received. They are the last point of contact in store, and i'm not making myself to be better than them (i work in a supermarket), but it is customer service at it's toughest. If the customer leaves the store happy with the service they've received from walking in the door, to walking out, they'd be more likely to come back. If the checkout operator couldn't handle a customer making a recommendation, then maybe a service department isn't the best department for that person to be working in. It shouldn't be up to the customer to train the staff how to do their job properly.

    Wow...storm in a teacup much?

The check out chick and the OP have probably forgotten all about this while the rest of us are discussing the correct packaging protocol and the various ways to dispose of faeces.

To answer the OP though, yes you were being over the op and I'm really not sure why you'd even buy leaky chicken in the first place
