Default Ahh.. yeah right 'toddler teeth brushing tips'

AS IF my toddler is going to let me Lie her down,

stick a brush smeared with tooth paste in her mouth,

brush her teeth for TWO MINUTES STRAIGHT,

    TWICE a day!

what planet are you living on? Seriously?

I also hear you expect me to wipe any excess tooth paste out of her mouth, with a washer, Untill shes able to spit.

    Im sorry.

but we have enough tantrums in a day without adding this to the mix.

Further more, I believe putting my 19 month old through this, twice a day, Will only make her reject her tooth brush and refuse to brush her teeth untill shes school aged.

The only way i can brush her teeth is by:
    a. letting her watch me, and giving it a go herself.
    b. encouraging her to do it herself
    c. Giving them a quick once over, when she lets me
    d. gentally teaching her to spit afterwards.

Maybe you should include that in your notes.

DS is at the age now where he wants to do everything himself so I say 'Mummy's turn first, then your turn' he says 'Noooo way!!!!!' and clamps his mouth shut. I say 'Ok no turn for DS' he goes 'Noooo, MY TURN!!!' I say 'Ok DS's turn but mummy goes first' then he lets me do it. This happens everyday, I dunno why we have to go through the routine every time

    Omg brushing for 2 mins

My DS used to act like I was trying to murder him while brushing his teeth, no matter how many songs, books, games we played during the process. Than one day it just clicked in Now he just sits down and opens his mouth while I brush! (he has a go after). It's so weird. But definitely not for 2 mins, he would NEVER allow that!!!

Where did those crazy ideas in op come from? My 17 mo only brushes (and very superficially) with water. I won't use paste until he can spit. My 3 yo uses paste.

    Amen to that.

    Daily struggle for us here.

I've tried electric Dora toothbrush, electric Diego toothbrush, Dora toothpaste, bribery, making a game out of spitting the water out ... And my latest 'but your teeth might fall out' - he doesn't care!
