    Default Smelly dishwasher

Any tips on how to stop my dishwasher smelling? I clean the filter thing regularly & the dirty dishes are only in there a max of 2 - 3 days before its turned on, but it still manages to absolutely stink!! I've tried the cleaning bottle thingy you can get from Coles, but after one wash it's back to smelly again anyone have any magic remedy?
    TIA

Make sure your plates are thoroughly scraped before you put them in

Use 1/4 of the recommended amount of dish washing powder and an equal amount of bicarb

Use 50/50 rinse aid and white vinegar, or forget rinse aid and just use vinegar

Dont leave for more than 24 hours before putting it on, or use a premise cycle every second day until its full

Don't leave it so long between washes. It's a moist environment and it's just going to breed bad smells.

Thanks ladies. We generally rinse before they go in, but maybe 2 - 3 days is too long to leave it before turning on. Will try rinse cycle or put on to wash at least every second day. Thank you!

Don't think the manufacturer would recommend this but my mum puts hers on empty with the detergent bit full of bleach/domestos. Swears by it! I'm yet to need to do that.
Also do you leave the door ajar a little to allow air to circulate? This is what we do. HTH

I often put half a lemon stuck onto the cutlery basket, leave it for a few washes... and it smells super. I also leave it ajar to air out.
