Welcome simba!! Yes I follow the clomid thread too I have seen your name there!! :-)

Clomid works very differently than the injections so hopefully you will get a better result with the jabs! I sure did! Ovulated for the first time in five years!! Twice now!! Yay!! I got nothing with clomid!

Did u have your tubes checked? Everything ok with your partners swimmers??

We are trying the natural way for a few cycles as my DH sperm is fine, and then on to IUI if we don't get results in a good few cycles... My FS is not quick to jump to ivf, seems to think ill get a BFP, can only hope!!!

Hope you have a quick journey!! Let us know when you start and how you are going!! Xoxo

Thanks ladies I'm feeling really at ease about the injections. I'm on BCP for another week and a bit then in for a scan on the 19th if all fine start the injections once AF arrives. So probably around 2 weeks until I start. We were shown the pens given lots of reading material to take home. We will be using gonal f not sure of dosage as yet will find out at our next appointment. I can't wait to get started, would love to get my first O in I don't even know how long maybe iv never o!

Mam - no I haven't had my tubes checked as yet, hoping they are fine will see after my first o. Partners swimmers are fine but I do think we will be doing iui as the nurse said it ups your chances and we'd be crazy not. I would prefer to go natural at least for my partners sake but will see what happens.

Would love to see some BFP's on here soon! Babydust to all x

    Hey simba!!

You can't tell if your tubes are open at all during your cycle. Weather you o or not. Only way to test is to have a test where they inject dye up into your tubes and check on ultrasound if the dye is going through to your ovaries. Personally I think that any fertility treatment is a waste of time and money without having your tunes tested as if your tubes are blocked you can waste cycle after cycle. You will still ovulate and get your period, but the sperm will never reach the egg! The egg will just dissolve in the blocked tube, your progesterone will drop and you will bleed, but u will never know it never reached your uterus. Every FS I have been to have checked tubes before injections or clomid at all - let alone IUI!! Maybe something to ask about before you start?? May save you thousands of dollars in the long run!! And a lot of mental anguish!!
I'm even thinking about checking my tubes again as its been 5 years since my last check, I figure a lot can happen in 5 years!!

Yeah I wish I was doing IUI!! But sticking with the natural way at the moment as DH wants to prove his swimmers!! Haha

    Take care!! Xo

I had my scan CD6 today and my FS thinks he sees a leading follicle (is hard with my PCOS as there are lots there!) at 10mm and my lining is great at 7mm, so he has upped my dose to 75 units of gonal f for 4 days then have another scan booked for Tues morning CD10. Hope it grows lots over the weekend! I think it will at 75 units, just hoping I don't get multiple follicles!!
    Have a lovely weekend xx

They can do a lap, but thats an actual operation. With the procedure i can't remember what it's called - a hyster-somethingorother-ogram, it's basic and simple, they put a catheter (tube) up onto your uterus and inject the dye in, whilst looking through a ultrasound scan to see of the dye goes through the tubes and reaches the ovaries. You are awake for the whole thing and it takes about half an hour...Bit uncomfortable, but no more than IUI...
But a lap is a full on operation where you are put to sleep and a breathing tube is put down your throat for the whole thing. Then they insert a camera, and instruments through your abdominal cavity, blow it up like a balloon with carbon dioxide so they can see all your organs, and check everything out directly. Not without it's risks, but definatly needed in some cases. With a lap they can also do ovarian drilling where they drill holes into the ovaries of women with PCOS, cause some damage and the ovary has to heal over but in a lot of cases causes women to spontaneously ovulate naturally... Something I am going to discuss with my FS before we move onto ivf if it comes to that!

Anyway bit more into for u!! Xo

Great thank you so much! I have seen another fs for 2nd opinion and he explained all about ovarian drilling. However he wanted to do another round of 150 clomid and then lap my current fs wants to go to injections, so I thought stick with my current one for now anyway as I believe we need to move on from clomid and he has seen first hand my reaction to the drugs. I'm going to call up and ask about the dye test on Monday.

No worries, I'm sure u could find the correct name if u google it!

Yeah my FS hates clomid. She didn't want me to up it after I didn't react to the lower dose. Plus I had terrible side effects on it! The injections are so much better for me! Sounds like a really good plan! I have heard that some FS don't worry too much about the tube tests, as the likelihood of blockages is minimal, but it's good to know your options, and if u found a blockage you would be so relieved that you didn't waste all those cycles - all the time and $$!! It's always good to go in with as much knowledge as you can! Not all doctors are good doctors! It's good to know what the norm is! Sounds like your current FS is on the ball though, I think it makes much more sense to try injections before a lap! Especially if u are not reacting to clomid like MANY women don't!!

I am seriously thinking about a lap if IUI doesn't work in the future, it's hard though, u just want to get up the duff and don't want to waste too much time! Especially if u want a couple of children. I'm 29 in a few weeks and keep thinking, if I want a big family I really need to get things going! If it takes me years to have one then it may not happen!

Let me know what they say about the tube test, I'll be interested to see if they want u to have it!
    Xo

    Hiya darling,

I have to agree with Mam, everything can all be ok,ovulation, sperm and follicles and everything else going well ,but if you have blocked tubes it ain't gonna happen!!!!

Now, I have had the test,it was one of the fist tests I had,not a nice test to have but paramount before having any drugs as its a test that's done so that the specialist knows what route to take!

Its called a HSG (hysterosalpingogram) its to assess your fallopian tubes and Uterine Cavity. You have to have it done between day 6 and 10 of AF. I was given an antibiotic before and after the test incase of infection and a anti-inflammatory suppository (Voltaren) 100mgs which I would highly recommend to anyone who was going to have this procedure!
Its not a nice procedure but very necessary and pleased i did agree to it! If the result is not a good one then they will advice that you have a Laproscopy done under General but they do like to try to less invasive test first!
still can't understand why any consultant would start you on Gonal F without knowing if you have any blockages? Maybe thats just me being naive hun?
Let me know how you get on hun, would be very interested to hear!
Good luck hun and baby dust coming your way!!!
