We make ours also from the down to earth blog but grate a bar of laundry soap as it works out cheaper. For our family of 6 including with one who wets the bed almost every night (and then sometimes twice a night) 2 in school and a toddler it lasts us about 3 months and I love the lack of (manufactured) smell clean washing has.
