I have had my hormone levels done and they are all normal.

I was trying to avoid going to a fertillity specialist for as long as possible because I have a friend who is doing that at the moment with Monash IVF and they seem to just be money hungry and charge enourmous amounts and keep sending her for tests and havnt actually done anything for her yet and its been three months. They even wanted to chanrge her extra so her husband could sit in the room while she had her appointment so her entire appointment cost over $400.00 for the first appointment.

I dont want to spend that kind of money if they are going to twiddle there thumbs.

I am in tears everyday over this I dont know what to do to get AF to come back! Some people just say to wait a bit longer some are saying to ask the doctor for provera to bring AF back? I dont know!

Is Monash the only option where you are? You could always go to another - try posting on here somewhere for some recommendations of drs perhaps. Even if you have to pay some (and $400 is just ridiculous IMO!!) utilise it, ask as many questions as you need and dont let FS make u feel rushed. Mine did. I get where youre coming from there. Ask them exactly what tests are required and be straight to the poInt and ask how quickly you can begin treatment and by treatment I mean actually trying to conceive as opposed to being run thru a battery of tests! My sympathies.. It's a difficult road to travel and its hard to know which way to turn. You could try the provera, I don't have any experience with that so I can't give you any advice there, I'm sorry

Also, how long have you been on metformin for? It took a little while for mine to kick in. I'm trying so hard to remember by dosage as I'm not on it anymore and AF comes by itself now regularly. I remember gradually building up dose as side effects can e unpleasant but I remember taking it three times daily.

Hi kjs I saw your post and just had to reply. I was diagnosed with pcos last year and was given provera to bring on AF. I didn't have any side effects. And I used it in conjunction with clomid but unfortunately I didn't respond well to clomid at all so after 3 months we moved on to other options. I'm at Monash and they have been great. I've heard on other threads other FS are more expensive and alot of them have switched to Monash. The first initial consult was expensive but so worth it. If your DH goes with you what they do is put the bill in two names so you get more back from Medicare. My DH has gotten 100% back from Medicare on his FS bills. I didn't find they rushed us through the processes to get more money out of us. I'm now doing IVF but only after doing IUI and having an ectopic pregnancy and having my tube removed and discovering my other tube is also severely damaged. My FS is really good and doesn't rush us into anything. After 2 failed IVF I asked him about having testing on my frozen blastocysts but he was hesitant as its very expensive and not covered by Medicare and didn't want us to spend money unnecessarily so we tried IVF again and I'm now 5w1d pregnant.

Just thought i would add another cheaper option than an fs. I started my treatment with obgyn. She certainly wasn't as good as my current fs and she only monitored through day 21 blood tests but she did hook me up with provera and clomid and it didn't cost half as much per cycle as my current fs. Just a warning though you do get what you pay for.

I am still very cautious - i know that anything can happen over the next few weeks so i am just trying to relax as much as i can! Feeling a lot better now i know the progesterone was fine. Another blood test next week and a scan soon after that. Should be 5 weeks today so still early days.

Welcome back Merls, hope you had a great break. All good over here, I've moved onto injections and have a nice ripe follie ready to trigger in the next day or so! Excited for my first Ov and shot at conception. Fingers crossed for a first go BFP but will see how we go. Hope things progress well for you this time. What treatment are you going to be on?
