Merls is lost sorry Shackles I don't fully understand Provera to sensibly give advice, but in saying that, I think you answered your own question. What have you got to lose by having a go? And what a wonderful story for a DD/DS about their heritage!!

    Thanks KellyMac

Oh sorry Merls. Here's to the next cycle and a big fat O! (followed by a BFP! )

Shackles what did you decide to do???

Bloods came back ok, 138 at 15dpo which according to Betabase is bang on median. Doc said still very early (which I figured would be the case!) so back again on Monday to confirm they are rising nicely. Feeling positive though

My problem is that from my calculations, i would have started provera today and timing should have been perfect... But i actually had a 30 day cycle after my last lot of provera (after an 80 day cycle) and am now on cd15. I have no signs of o - so my question is - is it stupid of me to take provera now? I dont want to get to april, to find out that af is still not coming and regret not taking the provera earlier. I know its stupid to put so much pressure on this trip and timing, but i just cant get it out of my head. I should just wait and see shouldnt i? My body just cant be trusted though!!!

Am i stupid for even considering it?

Sorry for the rant - lack if sleep and this whole ttc thing is making me mental!!
Hey shackles!! Careful with the early provera!! To my memory One of the other gals took provera after 20 something days in cycle and actually ovulated late... Stuffing up the whole cycle and then had to wait for AF afterwards anyway so was forced to take an over 2 week break!! Taking provera will not necessarily stop u ovulating if u are going to!!!!! You may find it does more harm than good!! The only safe thing would be to have a blood test to see if ovulation is on its way and your e2 is up... If your numbers are in your boots u should be able to start...??

I can see you have your hopes on an African conceived baby, but I wouldn't recommend taking provera now. You may just ovulate late! Who knows you my already have a BFP for your trip!!
I know it's so hard, we all wish our bodies would just behave normally, so we could have the luxury of knowing exactly when we ovulate!

Dont stress and just enjoy your holiday!! Extremely jealous!! Would love to go there!! Have u finished all the malaria meds and all that stuff??

Thanks mam. I think i was just having a crazy meltdown at the time. I am very wary of taking meds and know that it can actually stiff things up ( hence why only docs prescribe it!!) although it kills me to have to wait - i decided to not take it. I went to the doc on Tuesday and asked for blood tests but she wouldnt let me go now - put the 29th on the request date so have to wait until then i guess to find out whats going on. I am showing some signs of o maybe happening soon so im glad i waited (although timing will still be off

Thanks for the advice - i knew deep down at the time it would be wrong, but just wanted someone to tell me not to!! ( ttc makes me crazy!!)

Cotton - great news! Hope everything continues to go well for you!!

Oh, forgot to say mam that im not taking malaria drugs. The areas we are going to are on the outer edges of the malaria zone. Dh's parents live there and dont take them so never worry about it. Will just be extra cautious with mozzie spray while we are there
