Default TTC No 1 with PCOS chat #4

    CottonCandy & LittleDove

Yep - the Metformin is shown to help with insulin resistance and assists some PCOS-ers with losing weight. Unfortunately, it has never helped with me.

The Clomid is supposed to help stimulate the ovaries to release eggs. I started on a small dose and am working up to a large dose, but so far, no dice. If you're ovulating naturally, there's no need for Clomid {although some pair it with IUI/IVF to promote a stronger ovulation}.

Were you on BC pills for a long while? My PCOS symptoms were held at bay until I stopped taking them, and then things went out of control - cysts, acne, body hair, weight gain, the works. The hormones in the pill kept my body 'in check' - and coming off, well, all hell broke loose.

Thanks for the info!! I went on BC pull at 24 and came off it at 28. I've always been a little bit hairier than I'd like but don't have too much problem with acne... In terms of weight I'm a bit heavier than I'd like... The doc said by the looks of my ovaries I've had PCOS for quite some time.

I was on the pill for around 8 years and I only discovered the PCOS when I came off it. Thankfully I'm not overly hairy but I am over weight. I'm also taking clomid and metformin. Two metformin a day and 150mg of clomid seems to be doing the trick for me.

Welcome to the newbies. I hope you have a lovely short stay here

Hi ladies, I'm also new on here. Have known about my pcos for a while now but only just started trying for #1. Always knew in my heart I'd need some help but hoped It not to be true as although I have a very irregular af are slim even slightly underweight have no hair or skin problems either. My pcos is purely a hormone inbalance, still learning the lingo. After lots of testing and several appointments with my fs I was placed back on the bcp for 2 months. Which has always been my answer from doctors, since I was 18!! So I was initially a little frustrated with this. In this case it was to get my levels back to a more 'normal' level and have now finally started my first round of clomid to see if I can actually 'O'. here's hoping... It's lovely to find this site. I especially love hearing the success stories and finding other ladies with pcos to chat to as family and friends just don't understand it at times..

    Subscribing.

I'm counting the days until my specialist appointment as just diagnosed with PCOS. Hoping to start metformin next week and get that BFP in the coming months!

Hi edb... Sounds like we're in the same boat! My next FS appointment is a week today... Hope he's going to put me on clomid or metformin to get me ovulating, was diagnosed with PCOS about 3 weeks ago!
