Default How do I unlock a brand new DVD case?

I am hoping someone can help me. I bought the kids a DVD before Christmas (so no docket anymore) and thought I would put it on today for them.

I unwrapped the usual plastic wrap from it, but when I went to open the case I noticed it has two symbols of a red 'locked' and green 'unlock' symbol where you would usually open the case. This one is set at locked. I have never seen this before and have absolutely no idea how to open the case .

No amount of forcing or prizing is getting this case open, not even a butter knife. Does anyone know how to open it?

It's not the shop's security tag, as it was under the plastic wrap and on the inside opening of the dvd case.

I'm just about ready to throw it in the bin!

There are tutorials online, but it involves farting about with magnets and whatnot.

I had one a while ago, but I just hacked it to bits with a plunge saw. The case was killed, but I got the DVD out.

Lol I have almost resulted to this, its so frustrating! Even if we dont have the docket we just go back to the shop. Explain to the door person what u are doing if you have to go into a place like kmart, then just go up to the service desk and tell them whats happened. We have had to do this many times and our local stores have always unlocked them for us.

I was a DVD manager at JBHiFi,
If you want to successfully open the lock without damaging the case, you will have to take it back to the shop with the receipt. Many places won't unlock without a receipt as it could be a matter of theft.
    On the other hand...
If you call the store and speak to the manager and say it was a gift and have no receipt and it's locked, or something along those lines.. They might be happy to help.
