    The main reason I believe it is important to use the correct words is because if a child can't say the correct term in court (if they were sexually abused for example), they often can't find the abuser guilty because they can't *prove* that a little girl's 'twinkle' is, in fact, referring to her genitals.

    hi, i always would tell my children the correct words, but I would also use the word 'privates'. I wanted to make sure they understood that they had to give permission for anyone to touch them in that region, because it was private. Not 'shameful or rude', but certainly private. Marie.
