Default Vagina word for 17 month old????

    Hello

Our 17 mo DS is busy discovering herself and the minute the nappy comes off she likes to have a little exploration of herself!!!

DH and I are teaching her body parts, she is always looking at us when we are getting changed etc so what is appropriate to call vagina and penis? Im not particularly keen to call the parts a pet name so what do your kids call their parts?

Vagina/vulva and penis. They're nothing to be ashamed of, and there are many reasons why using the correct name is a good idea.

She says va.gina initially she could only say 'gooooiinnnnnnna' (awkward that she finally got a grip on the word, a month before cousin 'genna' was born she still doesn't get the difference between the two).

i'm trying to introduce vulva, but its too cute when she says goooina that i don't want her to stop using it

Child wise (and most other agencies) recommends that you should always teach your children to refer to their parts by the correct name eg vagina and penis.

I work in early childhood and will use the correct names with children there
