Default Airlie beach or heron island.. Holiday ?

Has anyone stayed there before, looking for a nice place that isn't to expensive that hubby and I can go for a long weekend.
If you have stayed, where did you stay and what activities can you do there?

I've been to Airlie and took a day cruise out to Hamilton island. We also took another cruise out to the barrier reef and went snorkeling. I like Airlie as it's a great base for lots of other places!

I LOVED Airlie Beach when I went for our honeymoon. I am definitely going back one day when the kids are older. There is so much you can do there. We went to Hamilton Island for the day, Whiteheaven beach, out to the a place (name escapes me sorry), went snorkling, in the underwater submarine (on the reef) and took a helicopter ride over the reef to see the heart reef etc (this was my fav part you think I would remember the name). We went parasailing etc. at our resort (coral sea resort).

I lived in Airlie for years, so highly recommend it! We even got married there. I highly recommend Coral Sea Resort. It's where we had our wedding in November 2011 and I honestly cannot fault it. The view, the service, the standard of rooms.... Everything was simply perfect!

I also grew up in airlie, and love it, we went there for our honeymoon, and went back for our first year anniversery! Love it! I love that you can walk everywhere, can just get on a boat and go anywhere, I love the reef and whitehaven beach and the snorkelling is awesome!

Fighting for control over who's right... Predictive text or me!
