    Default Random question

When you ring someone's doorbell, and they don't answer do you assume it's broken and then knock? Or do you assume they aren't home?

If I didn't hear it go bing bong then I knock. If I did then I assume they're out.

Ok. Phew. I just knocked on the neighbours door, didnt hear the doorbell ring so knocked and he came to the door all dazed like I'd woken him. I rang twice, walked home then decided I'd knock JIC so went back and knocked. I'm going to assume the bell doesn't work

depends if there are lights on, tv on, noise coming from the house,.
at ds old family day care the doorbell never worked, i always had to knock or go around to the backdoor if i heard someone out the back.

alternatively, i would call the persons phone while im standing on their doorstep

it cant hurt to knock as well as ring the bell, if they arnt home, then it doesnt really matter, they havnt witnessed it.

i guess it depends, if its an older person they might take longer to get to the door...
