My DD is nearly 4 and she stopped throwing tantrums just after her 3rd birthday. We still get tears and she is a good whinger but the tantrums are gone!

I once had a boss in his 60's who would throw tantrums more impressive than my DS can!

I'm hoping for most kids, it stops a lot sooner than that.

Generally I think 3-5 years they tend to wind up the tantrums?

Jasper's more of a break down/melt down than a tantrummer - which for him means he's over tired or extremely hungry, but usually the whatever it is he's upset about is forgotten immediately and he just needs to be held until the crying stops. He's 3y2months.

He really only exploded around 18m-2y sort of age & mostly I think it was he was frustrated he couldn't really talk much at all & so it was purely a frustration thing.

I dont think they really ever stop. My almost 6 year old still has what I would call a tantrum on occasion.
