Things like the phone ringing, or someone knocking on the door, or even a car door closing, should not send my anxiety through the roof. This is ridiculous.
Someone I know and trust knocked on the door an hour ago, to drop off Christmas gifts.
When I answered, I was so dazed and could hardly speak and breathe, I am so embarrassed! I didn't even invite her in, how rude!
It's only now, an hour later, and I am only *just* starting to feel better and stop shaking.
I've sent her a message to apologise, I hope she understands
